Inlay Design Studio of Parishville, New York is an art studio focusing on the design and creation of custom guitars and inlay. Here, Tracy Cox masterfully combines his love of art with his skills and expertise as a seasoned luthier.
Custom Acoustic and Electric Guitars
Acoustic or electric guitars can be custom ordered and built by master luthier Tracy Cox or as a student you can build a custom instrument with Tracy’s expert supervision.
Utilizing locally sourced wood, exotic wood or aged wood with a story – your story – the design and look of your instrument is yours to imagine. Wood from a family home or farm can be integrated into the design of a guitar. Pick-ups and tuners can be custom ordered.
The goal is to create a special, one-of-a-kind instrument that plays and resonates with the unique voice of the owner.
Custom Inlay Services
As an accomplished artist Tracy can create a unique drawing or inlay for your instrument.
Custom imagery can be expertly drawn directly on your finished guitar using dyes and paint. Inlays using an assortment of mother of pearl, abalone or a variety of exotic woods and material can provide the final custom element for your guitar.
Portraiture, logos or hand rendered verse can be incorporated into the design of your instrument.
Guitar building classes
Tracy offers instructional inlay and guitar building classes for every level and ability. Classes are available at Tracy’s Parishville studio location or remote classes can be arranged as schedules permit.
Remote guitar building classes are generally one week in duration. Students will leave with a finished and playable custom instrument.
Upon completion of an inlay class, students will have the creative skills and knowledge to continue with their own inlay adventures.
